The Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company was formed on February 1, 2012 through the merger of the Oaks Fire Company, formerly Montgomery County Station 63, and the Mont Clare Fire Company, formerly Montgomery County Station 55. The membership of these two independent, non-profit organizations voted to combine to facilitate a reduction in duplication of staffing and equipment within the Township of Upper Providence, to improve the staffing levels responding to emergency calls and to reduce operating costs.
The Oaks Fire Company provided fire and rescue services within Upper Providence Township and its surrounding communities since 1907 and was chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1908. The spirit of the Oaks Fire Company credo "Volunteers Serving Upper Providence Township" continues as part of the new organization.
The Mont Clare Fire Company was formed in 1900 and was chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1910 for the prevention of fire and protection of life and property from disaster in Mont Clare, PA. The spirit of the Mont Clare Fire Company credo "Neighbor Helping Neighbor Since 1900" also continues as part of the new organization.
The mission of the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company shall be to minimize the impact of fires, disasters and other emergency incidents on the life or property of our citizens and guests to our community. We shall accomplish this mission not only through providing the mitigation of fire, medical and related emergencies, but also through the provision of fire prevention and education programs. We shall maintain a high standard of training and education, strive for continuous improvement, act and perform in a safe, courteous, and professional manner, and endeavor to create a strong bond with the community. As members of this Company, we have chosen to be part of a team that takes pride in representing this mission through dedication and integrity.
